The rug that lead to Tokyo Rebels was an incredibly painful experience. I could see from miles away that it was going to not be that great but I was unsure out of the amount of volume of people and positive energy in the chat. So I chose to mint. And it rugged hard, 3 million stolen from a community that was promised access to talks, giveaways and superb NFTs.

That took me down a road where we the community tried to find out the owner of the project, who we eventually managed to ID and send to police enforcement. I got threatened IRL by two guys hired by the Tokyo Ten owner, but that did not stop us from minting the Tokyo Rebels. At the worst day of the bear market, November 2022, during the FTX collapse. We launchd as a free mint but the contract design allowed us to route some of the money that would be spent in gas to us as a project, something that really helped us moving forward.

now the biggest issue is building meaningful products that would allow us to move forward as an NFT project on Ethereum. Gas fees are an issue for what we want to do: escrow contracts for both contract ownership transfers and async work settlement. We are currently working on its design but it has been a tough battle, specially for the rest of the team that dedicate a lot more of their time to it compared to me.
